Admissions 2026

No application fee. No school fee. No interview that feels like a test. We just want to meet your child.

Enrolment

Bring the child, the birth certificate, and a sense of humour.

Manana is a no-fee, Section 21 public primary school. We do not select on academic performance. Our admissions feeder area is the cluster of farms around Manana Farm and the western edge of Lichtenburg.

A · Grade R / Grade 1 enrolment

  • Places available 2026: 18 in Grade R · 18 in Grade 1.
  • Feeder area: Manana Farm and the surrounding farms within ~15 km. Out-of-area applications considered if seats remain.
  • Age: Grade R — turning 5 by 30 June 2026. Grade 1 — turning 6 by 30 June 2026.
  • Documents: child's unabridged birth certificate, immunisation/Road-to-Health card, parent/guardian ID copy, proof of address, and most-recent school report (if any).
  • Process: a relaxed parent conversation (in Setswana or English) and a 30-minute small-group activity for the child — drawing, listening to a story, sharing a snack. We are watching for readiness, not measuring achievement.
  • Outcome: a written offer letter within 14 days, posted and sent by SMS.

B · Mid-year transfers (Grades 2–7)

  • Open subject to space — typically 1–2 seats per grade.
  • Transfer card from previous school required (DBE TC1 form), plus the documents listed above.
  • A short reading and numeracy check helps us place the child in the right group — never to gate-keep.

C · School fees

  • None. Manana is a Quintile 1 No-Fee school under SASA Section 39(7). No tuition, no registration, no levies.
  • Optional voluntary contributions to the SGB fund (excursions, sport kit, choir uniforms) — discussed only at the AGM, never as a barrier to enrolment.
  • Stationery is provided by the DBE; uniforms via Lichtenburg outlets — a partial subsidy programme exists for families in need.
